Sunscreen in winter: do you still need it?
Short, grey days don't switch off UV. Here's why SPF stays in your routine all year.

The short answer
Yes, every morning
UVB (burning) is weaker in winter, but UVA, which causes ageing and dark spots, stays fairly steady all year. It also passes through clouds and window glass.
Snow reflects a large share of UV, so ski days need more protection, not less.
How
Make winter SPF easy
Choose a moisturising formula
Cream sunscreens can double as your day moisturiser on dry skin.
Use enough
About two finger-lengths for face and neck.
Reapply if outdoors
Every two hours outside, or after sweating.
Don't forget lips
An SPF lip balm prevents chapping and sun damage.
